About Twentsche Golfclub

The Twentsche Golfclub in Ambt Delden, Overijssel, is an 18-hole, par-72 golf course on the Twickel estate, designed by Irish architect Thomas Macauley.

The Twentsche Golfclub lies on the Almelosestraat in Ambt Delden, on the historic Twickel estate near Hengelo in the Twente region of the eastern Netherlands. The Twentsche Golfclub plays through parkland with old trees, natural slopes and fast greens.

Founded in 1926 by Twente industrialists, the Twentsche Golfclub is one of the eight oldest golf clubs in the Netherlands. Its first course, a nine-hole layout by G.M. del Court van Krimpen and W.G. Janssen, opened in 1927 on the Drienerlo estate between Hengelo and Enschede. The current 18 holes at Twickel, by Thomas J.A. Macauley, opened in 1997 together with a clubhouse by Boy Wendrich, and the course was fully renovated in 2023.

At the Twentsche Golfclub, the greens of the 14th and 18th sit beside a wide pond in front of the clubhouse terrace. The 14th is a 408-metre par 4 from the white tees and carries stroke index 2, while the closing 18th is a 459-metre par 5. The longest hole is the 12th, a par 5 of 516 metres.

The Twentsche Golfclub has ten par 4s, four par 3s and four par 5s, split into two nines of par 36 that can also be played separately. The course measures 6,279 metres from the white tees, 5,824 metres from the yellow tees and 4,057 metres from the orange tees. From the white tees the men's course rating is 73.8 with a slope of 138; from the yellow tees it is 71.9 and 127. For women, the course rating from the red tees is 71.5 with a slope of 120.

Green fee visitors are welcome at the Twentsche Golfclub with a WHS handicap of 40 or lower, or up to 54 when introduced by a member who plays along. Request a tee time from the club before your round.
