About Stichting Golf The Links Valley
The Links Valley in Ermelo, Gelderland, is a reversible nine-hole, par-35 golf course in the heathland of the Veluwe, designed by Frank Pont.
The Links Valley opened in mid-May 2018 and, according to the club, is the first reversible nine-hole course in Europe. Golf architect Frank Pont joined the project as early as 2004. The site on the Ullerberg estate was once a sand quarry and later a landfill, and from 2007 it was turned into a golf course.
What sets The Links Valley apart is its direction of play. The North Course and the South Course share the same ten greens but follow a completely different routing, and the club switches between them every other day. With adjusted tees and different pin positions, every hole plays differently. Both loops are par 35: the North has two par 3s, six par 4s and one par 5, the South three par 3s, four par 4s and two par 5s.
The Links Valley sits on the Jhr. dr. C.J. Sandbergweg in Ermelo, in the heart of the Veluwe. The course lies on pure sandy soil, among rough heathland with marked changes in elevation. Red deer, badgers, pine martens and sand lizards live on the site.
From the black tees, the North Course at The Links Valley measures 2,957 metres and the South Course 2,992 metres; from the yellow tees, 2,781 and 2,758 metres. The longest hole is the South's ninth, a par 5 of 588 metres from the black tees. For men, the North rates 36.7 with a slope of 128 from black and 35.7 with 128 from yellow; the South rates 36.3 and 133 from black and 35.0 and 129 from yellow. Women play from the red tees at 35.7 and 130 on the North and 35.1 and 127 on the South.
Guests are welcome at The Links Valley with a valid handicap certificate; golf.nl lists a handicap of 54 or better. Book your tee time and green fee online in advance. Playing both loops in one day, 18 holes at par 70, is only possible on organised shotgun days.
