About Rijsbergse Golfclub De Turfvaert
Rijsbergse Golfclub De Turfvaert in Rijsbergen, North Brabant, plays an 18-hole, par-70 inland links course designed by golf architect Frank Pont.
Frank Pont laid out De Turfvaert along classic lines, drawing on the principles of Harry Colt, Tom Simpson and Alister MacKenzie. The result is an inland links with wide views, rolling firm fairways, treacherous rough, rugged bunkers and British-style greens, friendly for beginners yet challenging for experienced golfers.
Rijsbergse Golfclub De Turfvaert was founded in 2009 and has been active since 2010, the year Golfpark De Turfvaert opened. The golf park lies on Zwart Moerken in Rijsbergen, near Breda, on a historic estate of more than 50 hectares. Estate and park take the name De Turfvaert from an old waterway dating from 1619, once an important route for transporting peat.
De Turfvaert has six par 3s, eight par 4s and four par 5s. It measures 5,683 metres from the white tees and 4,712 metres from the red tees. From the white tees the men's course rating is 70.1 with a slope of 130; from the yellow tees it is 68.4 and 126. For women, the course rating from the red tees is 69.9 with a slope of 122.
Both nines at De Turfvaert can be played as separate loops, each at par 35, but they are built differently. The front nine has six par 4s, two par 3s and one par 5. The back nine has four par 3s, three par 5s and just two par 4s. Look out for the short 4th, a 238-metre par 4 from the white tees, and the 16th, a par 5 and the longest hole at 496 metres.
Can visitors play De Turfvaert? Yes: Golfpark De Turfvaert welcomes green fee players, whether for a single round or regular visits.
