Nunspeetse Golf en Country Club De Verwaeyde Sandbergen in Nunspeet, Gelderland, has a 27-hole woodland course by Paul Rolin with three par-36 loops.
De Verwaeyde Sandbergen takes its statutory name from the 6th hole on the North loop, a 375-metre par 4 from the white tees that the club says is notorious among Dutch golfers. The club calls the South loop the most challenging, with narrow landing areas. The South loop's 9th, a 496-metre par 5, finishes in full view of the terrace.
The 27 holes of De Verwaeyde Sandbergen form three nine-hole loops: North (Noord), East (Oost) and South (Zuid). Each is a par 36 with two par 3s, five par 4s and two par 5s, and any two make an 18-hole round of par 72. From the white tees North measures 2,994 metres, East 2,981 and South 3,032.
On the North-South combination at De Verwaeyde Sandbergen, 6,026 metres from the white tees, the men's course rating is 73.2 with a slope of 139; from the yellow tees it is 72.1 and 136. Women playing from the red tees have a course rating of 73.8 and a slope of 131.
De Verwaeyde Sandbergen started around 1984 as a plan by entrepreneur Dick Vermeij, who turned a neglected 80-hectare forest plot south of Nunspeet into a golf course. The golf club was founded in 1987, and the course officially opened on 3 September 1988.
The golf course in Nunspeet is called Het Rijk van Nunspeet and lies on the Plesmanlaan on the Veluwe, between Harderwijk and Zwolle. It is the home of De Verwaeyde Sandbergen, which golf.nl lists as Nunspeetse Golfvereniging De Verwaeyde Sandbergen. Small ponds edged with reeds, sand drifts and old Scots pines shape this A-status woodland course on sandy soil.
Can green fee players play Het Rijk van Nunspeet? Yes, seven days a week, with a handicap of 54 or better, and tee times can be booked online. The six-hole par-3 Dennenbaan needs no booking and no handicap.
