About Noord-Nederlandse Golf & Country Club
Noord-Nederlandse Golf & Country Club in Glimmen, Groningen province, is an 18-hole, par-72 golf course in woodland and parkland on the De Poll estate.
Noord-Nederlandse Golf & Country Club lies on the Pollselaan in Glimmen, just south of the city of Groningen in the north of the Netherlands. The club uses a villa built in 1913 as its clubhouse, with a view over the Drentsche Aa.
Founded in 1950, Noord-Nederlandse Golf & Country Club first played at the airfield in Eelde. In 1954 the club opened its course on the De Poll estate in Glimmen: nine holes laid out by Sir Guy Campbell. Frank Pennink later extended Noord-Nederlandse to 18 holes, and Donald Steel refined the layout further in the years that followed.
The landscape at Noord-Nederlandse goes back to 1816, when the heathland on the De Poll estate made way for pine forest, and some of those pines still stand. When the course grew to 18 holes, a stretch of woodland with a pingo remnant joined the estate and new broadleaf woodland was planted.
How long and how hard is Noord-Nederlandse? The course measures 5,971 metres from the white tees and 3,887 metres from the orange tees, with ten par 4s, four par 3s and four par 5s. From the white tees the men's course rating is 72.4 with a slope of 136; from the yellow tees it is 70.8 and 133. For women, the red tees carry a course rating of 72.6 and a slope of 129.
The two nines at Noord-Nederlandse are both par 36 and can be played as separate loops. The front nine measures 2,823 metres from the white tees, the back nine 3,148 metres. The back nine holds the hardest hole on the card: the 11th, a 560-metre par 5 with stroke index 1.
Green fee players are welcome at Noord-Nederlandse Golf & Country Club with at least the Dutch NGF course permit (baanpermissie). Book your tee time with the club by phone in advance and report to reception on arrival.
