About Nieuwegeinse Golfclub
Nieuwegeinse Golfclub in Houten, Utrecht province, plays on a nine-hole, par-35 competition course by Alan Rijks with plenty of water, plus a par-3 course.
Nieuwegeinse Golfclub is based at the De Utrechtse golf course on the Heemsteedseweg in Houten, close to the city of Utrecht. The competition course and the brasserie sit on the Houten side of the road; the par-3 course and the driving range are on the Nieuwegein side. The clubhouse terrace looks out over Heemstede Castle.
The competition course at Nieuwegeinse Golfclub was designed by golf architect Alan Rijks and laid out around Heemstede Castle in the Laagraven-Zuid recreation area, on the border of Nieuwegein and Houten. It officially opened on 23 May 2003. There is a lot of water on the course.
Nieuwegeinse Golfclub itself is older than its course. The club was founded on 19 July 1985 and first played at Benson Lodge, a public nine-hole course on the Blokhoeve in Nieuwegein, hence the name. The move to Laagraven-Zuid came in 2001.
One loop of the Nieuwegeinse Golfclub competition course has three par 3s, four par 4s and two par 5s. Played twice as 18 holes it is par 70 and measures 5,556 metres from the yellow tees, 4,934 metres from the red tees and 4,474 metres from the orange tees. The 3rd is the longest hole, a 482-metre par 5 from yellow, and the 9th, a 411-metre par 4, is stroke index 1.
Over 18 holes at Nieuwegeinse Golfclub, the men's course rating from the yellow tees is 69.6 with a slope of 126, and from the red tees 66.8 with a slope of 112. For women, the course rating from the red tees is 71.6 with a slope of 131.
The Nieuwegeinse Golfclub par-3 course has nine holes, par 27, over 725 metres, with holes from 48 to 159 metres: a place to work on your short game.
