The Koninklijke Haagsche Golf & Country Club in Wassenaar, South Holland, is an 18-hole, par-72 dune course designed by Colt, Alison & Morrison.

Founded in 1893, the Koninklijke Haagsche (Royal Hague) is the oldest golf club in the Netherlands, known affectionately as the Old Lady. The club first played at Waalsdorp in The Hague. It could no longer use that course after the Second World War, and in 1947 it bought its present 18 holes on the Groot Haesebroekseweg in Wassenaar.

The course the Koninklijke Haagsche plays today was laid out in 1938 for Daniel Wolf Jzn. Colt, Alison & Morrison designed it and the Copijn firm from Groeneken built it. According to the club, Alison did most of the design work.

The Koninklijke Haagsche sits in the Meijendel dunes just outside The Hague. The rolling dune landscape was kept intact when the course was built, so every hole opens a different view.

How long is the Koninklijke Haagsche? From the white tees it measures 6,177 metres, split into a 3,139-metre front nine and a 3,038-metre back nine, both par 36; from the orange tees it is 4,441 metres. There are ten par 4s, four par 3s and four par 5s. Men play the white tees off a course rating of 76.0 and a slope of 149, the yellow tees off 72.9 and 148. Women play the red tees off 75.6 and 143. The club also has a nine-hole Junior Course of par 29.

The 6th is the hardest hole on the Koninklijke Haagsche by stroke index, a 444-metre par 4 from the white tees. The round finishes on the longest hole, the 18th, a par 5 of 499 metres.

Visitors can play the Koninklijke Haagsche on weekdays only, as tee times after 11:00 on Friday and at weekends are reserved for members. Guests need a handicap of 24.0 or better and an NGF card, or an official handicap certificate from their home club if they come from abroad. Tee time requests go by phone to the starter, from 14:00 the day before you play.
