About Hoenderdaal Sport
Hoenderdaal Golf in Driebergen-Rijsenburg, Utrecht, is a parkland nine-hole par-3/4 golf course of par 28, designed by golf architect Alan Rijks.
Can you play Hoenderdaal without being a member? Yes: anyone holding at least the Dutch NGF course permit (baanpermissie) can play nine or 18 holes at Hoenderdaal, on a single green fee or a membership.
The golf course at Hoenderdaal has been in play since 1996. Alan Rijks fitted a layout full of character onto a relatively small site and used a range of bunkers and water hazards, so Hoenderdaal tests both beginners and low-handicap golfers.
Hoenderdaal has eight par 3s and one par 4, adding up to 877 metres from the yellow tees. The par 3s range from 45 metres at the 5th to 110 metres at the 9th. The 4th is the only par 4 at Hoenderdaal: 222 metres long and, at stroke index 1, the hardest hole on the course.
Playing the nine twice at Hoenderdaal gives an 18-hole round of par 56 over 1,754 metres. From the yellow tees the men's course rating for that round is 50.2 with a slope of 77, and the women's course rating is 51.6 with a slope of 80. Over nine holes the course rating is 25.1 for men and 25.8 for women.
Hoenderdaal lies on the Hoendersteeg in Driebergen-Rijsenburg, on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug ridge. Besides the course, Hoenderdaal has a driving range that includes 32 covered, floodlit bays with Trackman Range, plus a practice bunker, a chipping green and a putting green.
