About Hilversumsche Golf Club
Hilversumsche Golf Club in Hilversum, North Holland, is an 18-hole, par-72 woodland and heathland golf course with ten holes by architect Harry Colt.
Hilversumsche Golf Club is set in the woods and heath of the Gooi, on the Soestdijkerstraatweg in Hilversum. The Hollandse Sloot runs through the course and marks the border between North Holland and Utrecht, so a round at the Hilversumsche crosses two provinces.
Golf has been played at Hilversumsche Golf Club since 1895, and the club became a legal entity in 1910. Henry Burrows laid out the first nine holes on the Soestdijkerstraatweg. English architect Harry Colt then designed ten holes on newly acquired land, which opened in 1928. Kyle Phillips later renovated the course.
The Colt holes at the Hilversumsche are the 3rd to the 7th and the 13th to the 17th. They include the 6th, a 413-metre par 4 from the white tees and stroke index 1, and the 5th, a 204-metre par 3 from the whites.
Hilversumsche Golf Club first hosted the Dutch Open in 1923 and has hosted it many times since.
The Hilversumsche has ten par 4s, four par 3s and four par 5s, and measures 6,303 metres from the white tees and 4,484 metres from the orange tees. From the white tees the men's course rating is 75.1 with a slope of 145; from the yellow tees it is 72.5 and 139. For women, the course rating from the red tees is 73.6 with a slope of 138.
Alongside the main course, the Hilversumsche has the Kievitbaan, a nine-hole course of par 30 over 1,389 metres with six par 3s and three par 4s. Played twice, the Kievitbaan makes an 18-hole round of par 60.
Can visitors play the Hilversumsche? Yes, up to six times a year, if they belong to an NGF-affiliated or foreign golf club and have a handicap of 24 or better. Green fee players must book in advance; weekends and public holidays are for members only.
