Groen-Geel was founded in 1932 as a Catholic hockey club and added cricket in 1950. On 1 November 1982 Rutger and Margriet ten Hagen founded the Groen-Geel golf club. New holes were built in 2019, giving the Groen-Geel golf course two layouts: Green and Yellow.
Which layout is open at Groen-Geel depends on the football. The Green course is only played when there is no football on the natural grass pitches; otherwise the Yellow course is in use. A board to the left of the 1st tee shows the layout of the day, and both count for qualifying rounds. According to the club, every hole has a proper tee.
Visitors can play Groen-Geel as green fee players with a handicap of 54 or better. There are no tee times: you put a ball in the ball spiral by the 1st tee and wait your turn. Parts or all of the Groen-Geel course sometimes close for competitions or other sports, so check the club's course schedule before you go.
