Groningse Golfclub Duurswold lies on the Roegeweg in Steendam, in the municipality of Midden-Groningen, on the southern shore of the Schildmeer lake. The course was designed by Jol Golfdesign and officially opened in 2011. Duurswold is known for plenty of undulation, generous greens and water features.
According to the club, Duurswold is often described as one of the most difficult and challenging courses in the Netherlands. Open holes with wide views alternate with woodland holes, and with doglegs, tree-lined edges and water in play, tactics and course management count for more than length at Duurswold.
The club names the 8th as the hardest hole at Duurswold: a 373-metre par 4 from the white tees with a ditch 100 metres short of the green. The 2nd is a long par 5 of 501 metres with fairway bunkers and a large, undulating green that slopes from right to left. On the 7th, a 137-metre par 3, out of bounds is never far behind the green.
Duurswold's nine holes consist of six par 4s, two par 5s and one par 3, measuring 3,294 metres from the white tees and 2,287 metres from the orange tees. Played twice, the loop makes an 18-hole round of par 74 and 6,588 metres from the whites. Over 18 holes, the men's course rating from the white tees is 76.5 with a slope of 148, and from the yellow tees 75.3 and 139. For women, the course rating from the red tees is 76.4 with a slope of 139.
