About Golfvereniging Regthuys
Golfvereniging Regthuys in Winkel, North Holland, plays a rolling 18-hole, par-71 golf course by the Omringdijk, designed by Alan Rijks and Aart Bergsma.
What sets Regthuys apart is its local theming. The 7th on the Dijklus (Dyke loop), the Omringdijkhole, is a 131-metre par 3 from the white tees to a green hidden behind a miniature of the Westfriese Omringdijk, so the approach is blind. On the 4th of the Tulpenlus (Tulip loop), a 320-metre par 4 from the whites, the tees are shaped like bulbs and the green like a tulip. The 7th of the Tulpenlus is an island hole, a par 3 of 150 metres from the white tees.
Regthuys lies on the Limmerschouw in Winkel, in West Friesland north of Alkmaar. Golfvereniging Regthuys plays at Golf & Countryclub Regthuys. The name refers to a former law court in the village: Regthuys is old Dutch spelling for 'house of law'.
Gerhard van Galen, Jacco de Kroon and Jeroen Botman presented the first plans for Regthuys in 2003, and Golfvereniging Regthuys was founded in spring 2005 while the course was still being built. The driving range and par-3 course were ready by mid-2006, the nine-hole course gained A-status in 2009, and the Tulpenlus opened on 1 June 2013, completing 27 holes.
The 18 holes at Regthuys combine the Dijklus (par 36) and the Tulpenlus (par 35), and either loop can be played on its own. The Tulpenlus is the more undulating, with height differences of up to 12 metres. Regthuys has four par 3s, eleven par 4s and three par 5s, measuring 5,408 metres from the white tees, 5,201 from yellow and 4,555 from red.
From the white tees the men's course rating at Regthuys is 69.4 with a slope of 123; from yellow it is 68.3 and 124. For women, the course rating from the red tees is 69.8 with a slope of 125.
Can visitors play Regthuys? Yes: green fee players are welcome if they book with the club. The short loop at Regthuys, nine par 3s totalling 728 metres, needs no GVB or course permit.
