About Golfvereniging Dongen
Golfvereniging Dongen plays at Golfcentrum Dongen in Dongen, North Brabant: an open, rural nine-hole course of par 36 with large water features.
Golfvereniging Dongen, founded on 21 December 1998, is the members' club that plays at Golfcentrum Dongen on the Zandeweg, just outside Dongen. The golf club has no course of its own and is a full member of the Dutch Golf Federation (NGF) under club number 119.
Golfcentrum Dongen did not start in Dongen. Its first nine-hole course, then called Golfcentrum Vossenhole, was laid out in 1992 on the Reeshofweg in Tilburg. When that land was needed for new housing in the Reeshof district of Tilburg, the centre moved to a new course on the Zandeweg in early April 2010. The course was renamed Golfcentrum Dongen at the end of March 2013.
The course at Golfcentrum Dongen is wedged between an ecological corridor and farmland, with part of it in the neighbouring municipality of Gilze en Rijen. Because Golfcentrum Dongen is so open, the wind has a real say in how you play. Large water features, strategically placed bunkers and contoured greens do the rest.
The nine holes at Golfcentrum Dongen add up to par 36, with two par 3s, five par 4s and two par 5s. The loop measures 2,758 metres from the yellow tees, 2,458 metres from the red tees and 2,116 metres from the orange tees. Hole 2, a par 5 of 525 metres from yellow, is the longest, while hole 6, a 411-metre par 4, is stroke index 1. Played twice, the course becomes an 18-hole round of par 72 and 5,516 metres from yellow. Over 18 holes, the men's course rating from the yellow tees is 69.6 with a slope of 115; for women from the red tees it is 71.2 with a slope of 124.
Visitors can play Golfcentrum Dongen on a green fee for nine or 18 holes. Next to the course there is a driving range, a putting green, a chipping green and a separate par-3 course.
