Golfvereniging De Drentsche in Zeijerveen, Drenthe, plays a 27-hole Gerard Jol course among woods and farmland, together with a nine-hole par-3 course.
Golf architect Gerard Jol designed the 27 holes at De Drentsche as three loops of nine. Yellow (par 35) is open, with several water hazards. Red (par 37) mixes a few woodland holes with large stretches of water. White (par 36) runs through an existing block of forest. Any two loops together make an 18-hole round.
De Drentsche plays at the Drentsche Golf & Country Club on the Ten Oeverstraat in Zeijerveen, just north of Assen in the province of Drenthe. The complex sits in a 240-hectare nature area, 140 hectares of which is golf course, with views over woodland, fields and avenues of oak trees.
The three 18-hole combinations at De Drentsche differ in par and length. Yellow-White is a par 71 of 6,114 metres from the black tees, Red-Yellow a par 72 of 6,252 metres from black, and White-Red a par 73 of 6,386 metres from black and 5,037 metres from red. White-Red has nine par 4s, four par 3s and five par 5s.
White-Red also carries the highest ratings at De Drentsche. From the black tees the men's course rating is 74.3 with a slope of 146; from the yellow tees it is 70.9 and 134. For women, the course rating from the red tees is 73.3 with a slope of 133. On Yellow-White, men from the yellow tees face a course rating of 69.0 and a slope of 129.
Can visitors play De Drentsche? Yes. The club welcomes green fee players, who book a tee time online. The 27-hole championship course requires at least club handicap 54, while the nine-hole par-3 course is open to anyone with a course permit.
