About Golfvereniging Ameland

Golfvereniging Ameland in Hollum, Friesland, plays 18 holes at par 72 on a nine-hole links course in the dunes, designed by Joan Dudok van Heel.

The Duunbaan at Golfbaan Ameland is a nine-hole links course set between the dunes and the Wadden Sea mudflats, with a view of the Ameland lighthouse. Wind and nature are always part of the game, with deer, rabbits and birds of prey as the only spectators.

Golfvereniging Ameland was founded on 3 February 1994, and the course on the Oosterhiemweg in Hollum opened in 1995, laid out by golf architect Joan Dudok van Heel. The course itself goes by the name Golfbaan Ameland.

An 18-hole round at Golfbaan Ameland means playing the nine holes of the Duunbaan twice, each nine at par 36. That gives ten par 4s, four par 3s and four par 5s. From the white tees the course measures 6,160 metres, from the yellow tees 5,826 metres and from the orange tees 4,056 metres. The 8th is the longest hole, a 496-metre par 5 from the white tees, while the 7th, a 412-metre par 4, is stroke index 1.

For men at Golfbaan Ameland, the course rating from the white tees is 73.3 with a slope of 128, and from the yellow tees 71.4 with a slope of 130. For women, the course rating from the red tees is 72.9 with a slope of 127.

Alongside the Duunbaan lies the Wadbaan, a nine-hole par-3 course designed by Gerard Jol that opened in 2005. Its holes on Ameland range from 85 to 130 metres, 914 metres in total for a par of 27.

Visitors are welcome at Golfbaan Ameland. The Duunbaan requires a handicap of 54 or better, while the Wadbaan has no handicap requirement at all, so beginners can play there too. Green fee rounds and tee times are booked online in advance.
