Golfparc Sandur
About Golfparc Sandur
Golfparc Sandur in Emmen, Drenthe, is a nine-hole golf course by architect Frank Pont, set among woodland and hills and playing to par 68 over 18 holes.
Golfparc Sandur was created in 2005, when golf architect Frank Pont turned an area of woodland and farmland on the southern edge of Emmen into a nine-hole layout. Emmen sits on the Hondsrug ridge in the province of Drenthe, and the course is on the Golfparkdreef.
What makes Golfparc Sandur tricky is not its length but its shape. Fairways are narrow, several holes dogleg and some play blind. Woodland, hills, rhododendrons and water frame the holes, and boulders left behind by the ice age are scattered across the course.
An 18-hole round at Golfparc Sandur means going round the same nine holes twice. The nine has four par 3s, three par 4s and two par 5s for a par of 34. The opening hole is rated the hardest: a 445-metre par 5 from the yellow tees with stroke index 1. The 5th is the longest par 3 at 174 metres; the 8th is the shortest at 120 metres.
Over 18 holes, Golfparc Sandur measures 4,830 metres from the yellow tees, 4,072 metres from the red tees and 3,144 metres from the orange tees. From the yellow tees the men's course rating is 66.2 with a slope of 116; from the red tees it is 63.6 and 98. For women, the course rating from the red tees is 67.3 with a slope of 108.
Can visitors play Golfparc Sandur? Yes: green fee players are welcome with a handicap of 54 or better, and tee times can be booked online in advance. The club also has a floodlit driving range and a practice green.
