About Golfclub Zeewolde
Golfclub Zeewolde in Zeewolde, Flevoland, is a 27-hole, par-72 golf course with a park-like character in deciduous woodland, designed by Alan Rijks.
When was Golfclub Zeewolde founded? The club dates from 3 April 1984, when the Rijksdienst voor de IJsselmeerpolders had a course built as part of a larger recreation area. The grounds grew to about 120 hectares in 1994. Golf architect Alan Rijks renovated the existing holes and expanded the course to 27 holes, which officially opened in 1997.
Golfclub Zeewolde sits on the Golflaan in Zeewolde. The course lies roughly 3 metres below sea level, on the bed of the former Zuiderzee, in what the club calls the largest deciduous forest in the Netherlands, home to birds of prey, roe deer and foxes.
The 27 holes at Golfclub Zeewolde form three par-36 nines: Aak, Botter and Pluut. Any two make an 18-hole, par-72 round with ten par 4s, four par 3s and four par 5s. From the white tees, Aak-Botter measures 6,303 metres, Botter-Pluut 6,254 metres and Pluut-Aak 6,183 metres.
Botter is the toughest nine at Golfclub Zeewolde, with a men's slope of 149 from the white tees. It also holds the longest hole, the 8th, a par 5 of 520 metres from the whites. On Pluut, the 3rd is a long par 3 of 217 metres from the whites.
For Aak-Botter at Golfclub Zeewolde, the men's course rating from the white tees is 74.4 with a slope of 145, and from the yellow tees 72.7 with a slope of 133. From the red tees, women play to a course rating of 73.9 and a slope of 133.
Golfclub Zeewolde also has the Jol, a short par-29 nine with seven par 3s and two par 4s. It measures 1,362 metres from the black markers and 1,289 metres from the green; played as 18 holes it is par 58 over 2,651 metres. The Jol has qualifying status.
