Golfclub ’t Jagerspaadje

Golfclub ’t Jagerspaadje in Hilversum, North Holland, is a compact nine-hole course in the Corversbos woods, played as 18 holes at par 60.

Golfclub ’t Jagerspaadje sits on the Beresteinseweg in Hilversum, on the edge of the Corversbos and close to the country estates of ’s-Graveland. Its neighbour is De Corvers korfball club. Thanks to the sheltered setting and the sandy soil of the Gooi region, members at ’t Jagerspaadje can play on summer greens almost every day of the year.

How did ’t Jagerspaadje begin? The club was founded on 27 June 1981, and for its first years members played small par 3s around the pitches of the HMHC hockey club, only outside the hockey season. In 1989 Golfclub ’t Jagerspaadje moved to its present site next to De Corvers. Volunteers still do much of the course maintenance, with support from professionals.

The nine holes at ’t Jagerspaadje comprise six par 3s and three par 4s, played twice for an 18-hole round of par 60 over 2,785 metres from both the yellow and red tees. The first nine measure 1,400 metres and the second nine 1,385 metres, because the 10th (95 metres) is shorter than the 1st (110 metres). Men play from the yellow tees with a course rating of 55.0 and a slope of 91; women play from the red tees with a course rating of 57.5 and a slope of 102.

The longest hole at ’t Jagerspaadje is the 6th, a 243-metre par 4. The 4th, a 170-metre par 3, carries stroke index 1 as the hardest hole on the card, while the 9th is the shortest at 87 metres. Small and compact as it is, ’t Jagerspaadje demands real precision and technique.

Golfclub ’t Jagerspaadje is a private members' club: green fee play is only possible alongside a member. The club belongs to the Dutch Golf Federation (NGF), and the course is a qualifying course for handicap rounds and NGF exams.
