Golfbaan Catharinenburg lies on the Bouwdijk in Melissant, on the island of Goeree-Overflakkee. The course sits in the Roxenisse polder, which was formed around 1480. Two historic farmhouses stand in the polder, 'de Halsstee' and 'Catharinenburg', and the golf course is located at the second.

Golfclub Roxenisse was founded on 15 June 1988. In the early 1990s a small golf course in Ouddorp had to make way for an expanding campsite. The club's board then looked for a new site and found Jan-Leen Mijnders, the founder and former owner of Golfbaan Catharinenburg. After a year, the Roxenisse course there grew from 10 to 30 hectares.

The 18-hole course at Golfclub Roxenisse is partly a polder course and partly a links course. The front nine has three par 3s, three par 4s and three par 5s over 2,658 metres from the yellow tees. The back nine has seven par 4s, one par 3 and one par 5, measures 2,897 metres and rates harder: a men's slope of 140 from yellow against 125 on the front. Both nines can be played as a separate loop of par 36.

The hardest hole at Catharinenburg by stroke index is the 9th, a 410-metre par 5 from the yellow tees.

Roxenisse's 18-hole course measures 5,555 metres from the yellow tees, 4,844 metres from red and 4,293 metres from orange. From yellow the men's course rating is 70.5 with a slope of 132. For women, the course rating from the red tees is 72.8 with a slope of 128.

Golfbaan Catharinenburg also has an 18-hole par-3 course of par 54 and 2,314 metres, with holes from 71 to 191 metres.
