About Golfclub Oostburg Domein De Brugse Vaart

Golfclub Oostburg Domein De Brugse Vaart in Oostburg, Zeeland, is an 18-hole, par-73 parkland golf course with plenty of water, designed by Ron Kirby.

The Domein De Brugse Vaart, home of Golfclub Oostburg, takes its name from a canal that the city of Bruges dug here in the early 16th century to stop the Zwin inlet from silting up. The estate lies on the banks of that old Zwin.

Golf architect Ron Kirby designed the Brugse Vaart course as a parkland layout on gently rolling ground with a variety of trees. Winding water features, laid out along the banks of the canal, are the main source of difficulty at Golfclub Oostburg.

Golfclub Oostburg is on the Brugse Vaart, west of the town of Oostburg in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen (Zeelandic Flanders), part of the municipality of Sluis and close to the Belgian border. Bruges is a short drive away across that border.

The front nine at De Brugse Vaart is a par 36 and the back nine a par 37, and either nine can be played on its own. Over 18 holes there are five par 3s, seven par 4s and six par 5s. The 18th is the longest hole, a 572-metre par 5 from the white tees, while the 12th is the shortest, a 123-metre par 3.

From the white tees De Brugse Vaart measures 6,345 metres, and from the orange tees 4,580 metres. Men playing from the white tees face a course rating of 74.9 and a slope of 143; from the yellow tees it is 74.0 and 139. For women, the course rating from the red tees is 75.2 with a slope of 141.

Golfclub Oostburg welcomes members and guests every day. Green fee players need a handicap and should book a tee time in advance.
