About Golfclub Ockenburgh
Golfclub Ockenburgh in The Hague, South Holland, is a compact nine-hole golf course in the dunes at Kijkduin, designed by golf architect Gerard Jol.
Golfclub Ockenburgh started on the Ockenburgh municipal campsite. The Stichting Openbaar Golf Den Haag en omstreken was registered in 1981, and volunteers laid out a basic golf course on part of the campsite. Work on a nine-hole par-3 course designed by Gerard Jol began in March 1996, the year the club itself was founded, and Mayor Wim Deetman officially opened it in 1997.
Ockenburgh was reworked in 2016. Former football pitches made room for two new par-4 holes, and the revised course opened on 1 April 2016. Golfclub Ockenburgh moved into a new clubhouse in September 2018.
Today the course at Golfclub Ockenburgh has five par 4s and four par 3s. The club describes narrow fairways, plenty of bunkers and water features, and golf.nl adds that the many trees make the short layout demanding. Because Ockenburgh sits sheltered in the dunes, the club says it is often still playable after heavy rain.
Golfclub Ockenburgh lies on the Wijndaelerweg in The Hague, in a spot the club describes as between the city and the dunes of Kijkduin.
Visitors can play Golfclub Ockenburgh with a golf handicap and a green fee, and golf.nl lists handicap 54 as the minimum for nine holes. Tee times can be booked in advance online or through the caddie master. The club also has a floodlit driving range, a putting green, a chipping green and a practice bunker.
