About Golfclub Dirkshorn
Golfbaan Dirkshorn in Dirkshorn, North Holland, is an 18-hole, par-72 golf course in open polder land, designed by golf architect Alan Rijks.
Alan Rijks laid out Golfbaan Dirkshorn as a polder meadow course, which some describe as an inland links. It has undulating fairways, fast greens, challenging water hazards and rough, and only a few groups of trees. The drainage is very good.
Golfbaan Dirkshorn sits on the Groenvelderweg, on the northern edge of the village of Dirkshorn in the municipality of Schagen, close to the N245 road to Alkmaar. The course covers 55 hectares, and from it you can see church spires, the dunes near Schoorl and the Groenvelder windmill, a polder mill built around 1560. Play began in spring 2009, and the course and its clubhouse, built in the shape of a traditional stolp farmhouse, were officially opened on 17 April 2010.
How long is Golfbaan Dirkshorn? From the white tees it measures 6,225 metres, from the yellow tees 5,724 metres and from the orange tees 4,321 metres. The layout has ten par 4s, four par 3s and four par 5s, and each nine can be played as a separate par-36 loop. The longest hole is the 10th, a 515-metre par 5 from the whites, while the 3rd, a 411-metre par 4, is stroke index 1.
For men, Golfbaan Dirkshorn has a course rating of 73.2 and a slope of 141 from the white tees, and 70.8 with a slope of 129 from the yellow tees. For women, the course rating from the red tees is 71.5 with a slope of 127.
Golfbaan Dirkshorn also has an 18-hole par-3 course of par 54, which can be played as two nine-hole loops. Its holes range from 75 to 200 metres, 2,200 metres in total.
