About Golfclub de Gulbergen
Golf De Gulbergen in Mierlo, North Brabant, has 27 holes on a hilly former landfill: an 18-hole, par-70 course and the short nine-hole Old Course.
Golf De Gulbergen was founded in 1990, partly on the site of a former waste dump whose buried refuse shaped the hills and their 45 metres of elevation change. The nine-hole Old Course came first; the Libellenbaan and Sprookjesbaan followed between 1996 and 2001. The club names Hans Hertzberger, Donald Steel and Han Wessels as the architects of that expansion.
The main 18-hole course at Golf De Gulbergen combines two nines. The Sprookjesbaan (par 34, 2,740 metres from the yellow tees) is hilly and climbs onto and around the Roof of Brabant (Dak van Brabant). The Libellenbaan (par 36, 2,915 metres) has challenging holes around water hazards with sloping banks.
The club calls the 4th on the Sprookjesbaan at Golf De Gulbergen the most beautiful golf hole in Brabant. It is a par 3 of 200 metres from the yellow tees and 169 metres from the red tees.
On the 18-hole course at Golf De Gulbergen you play five par 3s, ten par 4s and three par 5s. It measures 5,655 metres from the yellow tees and 4,139 metres from the orange tees. Men have a course rating of 70.5 and a slope of 129 from yellow, and 68.4 and 119 from blue. Women play the red tees at 71.8 and 124.
The Old Course is the oldest and shortest loop at Golf De Gulbergen: nine holes, par 32, with four par 3s and five par 4s over 1,760 metres from the yellow tees. The club recommends it for beginners, though it demands precision.
Golf De Gulbergen sits on the Heiderschoor in Mierlo, between Eindhoven and Helmond. According to the club, the Roof of Brabant on the course is the highest point in the province, 60 metres above sea level.
Visitors can play Golf De Gulbergen on a green fee. The 18-hole course requires a handicap of 54 or better; the Old Course is open with the NGF course permit (Golfbaanpermissie). Book a tee time in advance.
