About Golfclub Bleijenbeek
Golfbaan Landgoed Bleijenbeek in Afferden, Limburg, is an 18-hole, par-73 golf course among old tree lines, ponds and castle ruins, designed by Gerard Jol.
Golf architect Gerard Jol called hole 5 at Bleijenbeek the most beautiful hole he ever designed. It is a par 4 of 358 metres from the white tees and 341 metres from the yellow tees, and stroke index 1 on the scorecard.
Golfbaan Landgoed Bleijenbeek sits at Bleijenbeek 14 in Afferden, in the north of the province of Limburg, inside De Maasduinen National Park. According to golf.nl it was the first Dutch golf course within a national park. The estate holds the ruins of Bleijenbeek Castle, destroyed by an RAF bombing raid in February 1945.
The Bleijenbeek championship course opened in 2005. Jol routed it past old lines of trees, a babbling brook, ponds and the castle ruins, over marked changes in elevation. Golfbaan Landgoed Bleijenbeek is also home to the Dutch Golf Museum.
The two nines at Bleijenbeek are built very differently: the front nine is a par 35 with a single par 5, the back nine a par 38 with four par 5s. Overall the course has four par 3s, nine par 4s and five par 5s, measuring from 6,370 metres off the white tees down to 4,483 metres off the orange tees. The men's course rating is 74.2 with a slope of 136 from the white tees, and 71.9 with a slope of 139 from the yellow tees. For women, the red tees carry a course rating of 72.8 and a slope of 133.
Landgoed Bleijenbeek also has a nine-hole par-3/4 course of 1,412 metres and par 29, with seven par 3s and two par 4s; played twice it makes an 18-hole round of par 58. There is a pitch and putt course as well.
Green fee players are welcome at Bleijenbeek. The championship course requires a Dutch golf proficiency certificate (GVB), the par-3/4 course requires course permission, and tee times are booked online through the club.
