About Golfclub Anderstein
Golfclub Anderstein in Maarsbergen, Utrecht, has 27 holes in three nines, played as 18-hole courses of par 72 or 73 in woodland and parkland.
Golfclub Anderstein is on the Woudenbergseweg in Maarsbergen, on the Anderstein estate of the Van Beuningen family. The course lies partly on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, a wooded ridge, and partly in the Gelderse Vallei. Anderstein's three nines are called Vallei, Heuvelrug and Heide, and trees, shrubs and water come into play on all of them.
Brothers Hein and Frederik van Beuningen founded Golfclub Anderstein with a few friends on 21 June 1986, replacing the farm on the family estate with a golf course. The old farmhouse and cowsheds became the clubhouse. Anderstein's first nine holes were in play from 1987, and most of them survive in today's Vallei loop. Architects Gerard Jol and Van Aalderen later extended the course to 18 holes, and the third nine opened on 15 May 2005.
The three 18-hole combinations at Golfclub Anderstein differ in length and par. Heide-Vallei is a par 72 of 6,129 metres from the white tees. Heuvelrug-Heide measures 6,401 metres and Vallei-Heuvelrug 6,204 metres, both par 73. Heuvelrug, with three par 5s, is the only par-37 nine and, at 3,238 metres from the white tees, the longest of the three.
The longest hole at Anderstein is the 5th on the Heide nine, a 514-metre par 5 from the white tees. Two holes later, the 422-metre par-4 7th is stroke index 1.
How hard is Anderstein? On Heuvelrug-Heide the men's course rating is 75.3 with a slope of 149 from the white tees, and 73.6 with a slope of 149 from the yellow tees. Women play the red tees at a course rating of 74.3 and a slope of 145.
Green fee players with a WHS handicap of 36 or better can play Golfclub Anderstein from Monday to Saturday, but not on Sundays or public holidays. Book a tee time in advance.
