About Goese Golf Club
De Goese Golf in Goes, Zeeland, is an 18-hole, par-72 golf course on former farmland near the Oosterschelde, designed by Donald Steel and Hans Hertzberger.
Donald Steel and Hans Hertzberger gave De Goese Golf a classic layout, with nine holes in the middle and nine more wrapped around them. Water flowing in from the Oosterschelde comes into play on more than ten holes. Wide fairways, undulating greens and pollard willows typical of Zuid-Beveland complete the picture, and every one of the 18 greens has at least one greenside bunker.
De Goese Golf lies on the Krukweg on the north-eastern side of Goes, less than a kilometre from Oosterschelde National Park. In the late 1980s this land still grew potatoes, onions, sugar beet and lucerne; the course dates from 1995.
Green fee players are welcome on the championship course at De Goese Golf with a handicap of 54 or better, while the nine-hole par-3 course has no handicap requirement. Tee times are booked online through the club.
The championship course at De Goese Golf holds A status and has ten par 4s, four par 3s and four par 5s, split over two nines of par 36 each. It measures 6,112 metres from the yellow tees and 4,395 metres from the orange tees. The 2nd, a 394-metre par 4 from the white tees, is stroke index 1, and from those tees the longest hole is the closing 18th, a 499-metre par 5. Men playing from the white tees face a course rating of 74.1 and a slope of 140, or 73.1 and 139 from the yellow tees; women from the red tees play to a course rating of 73.8 and a slope of 132.
Alongside the championship course, De Goese Golf has a nine-hole par-3 course: par 27 over 725 metres, with holes from 59 to 115 metres. Played twice, it makes an 18-hole round of par 54 over 1,450 metres.
