About Eindhovensche Golf
Eindhovensche Golf in Valkenswaard, North Brabant, is an 18-hole, par-72 course through woodland, heath and heathland pools, designed by Harry Colt.
Eindhovensche Golf goes back to Anton Philips and his wife Anna Philips-de Jongh, who in 1928 discovered the Nederheide, an open landscape of low pines, heath and pools. The English architect Harry Colt laid out 18 holes there with the Utrecht garden architect Copijn, and Anton Philips officially opened the course on 12 July 1930. In late 2014 the land under Eindhovensche Golf passed to the entrepreneur Wim van der Leegte.
Colt designed Eindhovensche Golf in 1928; the club says he fitted his courses into the landscape with doglegs and natural hazards. The Philips couple brought much of the flora back from their travels. The clubhouse terrace looks out over five holes and the Galgenven pool.
The 18 holes at Eindhovensche Golf form two nines of par 36 each: from the white tees the front nine measures 3,092 metres and the back nine 3,233 metres. The 10th, a 437-metre par 4, is stroke index 1. From those tees the par 3s run from 145 metres at the 8th to 203 metres at the 3rd.
Eindhovensche Golf has four par 3s, ten par 4s and four par 5s, and measures 6,325 metres from the white tees and 5,079 metres from the red. Men play the white tees at a course rating of 73.9 and a slope of 136, and the yellow tees at 71.4 and 132. Women play the red tees at 72.4 and 128.
Eindhovensche Golf lies on the Eindhovenseweg in Valkenswaard, just south of Eindhoven. The golf club is one of the Old Nine, as the pre-war Dutch clubs are often called, and hosted the Dutch Open six times between 1947 and 1970.
Visitors can play Eindhovensche Golf on weekdays with a valid NGF handicap card or an equivalent foreign card, and a handicap of 24.0 or lower. Contact the caddiemaster well in advance for a tee time; green fees cover 9 or 18 holes.
