About Edese Golf Club Papendal
Edese Golf Club Papendal in Arnhem, Gelderland, is an 18-hole, par-71 golf course in the wooded Veluwezoom hills, originally designed by Frank Pennink.
Edese Golf Club Papendal lies on the Papendallaan at the National Sports Centre Papendal, between Arnhem, Oosterbeek and Ede. It is a woodland course with heathland touches in the hilly southern Veluwezoom. There is no water in play; elevation changes, plenty of bunkers and tough summer rough provide the challenge.
Both nines at Edese Golf Club Papendal return to the clubhouse and close with a par 5: the 9th at 502 metres and the 18th at 518 metres from the white tees. The 8th, a 157-metre par 3, shares a large double green with the 10th, a 479-metre par 5. The 11th is a downhill par 3 of 192 metres.
Edese Golf Club Papendal owes its name to a plan that never happened. The club was founded in 1978 to build a course in the municipality of Ede, but the council did not cooperate, so the club moved to Papendal near Arnhem. It kept the name Edese and later added Papendal.
Frank Pennink designed the original nine holes at Edese Golf Club Papendal. The 18-hole course and a new clubhouse were officially opened in 1993, and a major renovation of the course began in 2005.
Edese Golf Club Papendal has nine par 4s, five par 3s and four par 5s. The front nine is par 35 and the back nine par 36, and each can be played as a separate loop. The course is 6,033 metres long from the white tees and 4,430 metres from the orange tees. The men's course rating is 72.7 from the white tees (slope 133) and 71.6 from the yellow tees (slope 131). For women, the red tees have a course rating of 73.1 and a slope of 129.
Green fee players are welcome at Edese Golf Club Papendal with an NGF registration card and a handicap of 36 or lower. Tee times can be booked online up to ten days in advance.
